# LP Fundraising for Emerging VC Funds

> Notes on how an emerging VC fund can find, segment, qualify and engage limited partners, written in VC Lab's Venture Institute Apprenticeship, 2023–2024.

**In short:** four notes on how a new VC fund manager can find, segment, qualify and engage limited partners (LPs), written in 2024 as research.

I wrote them on the topics of the extended Apprenticeship programme of VC Lab's Venture Institute (cohort 2, October 2023 to March 2024), while I was also practising at Func Ventures, an emerging VC firm.

This is an archive from 2024, not an active fund raise. Examples and figures reflect the 2024 market.

Read them in order, from finding leads to engaging them:

1. **[LP Lead Sources](/vc/fundraising/lp-lead-sources)** (April 11, 2024): seven sources of LP leads, from your inner circle to databases, and why to track where every lead comes from.
2. **[LP Lead Segmentation](/vc/fundraising/segmentation)** (April 11, 2024): how to sort LP leads by relationship, then by connection degree, shared years, location and background.
3. **[LP Lead Qualification](/vc/fundraising/lead-qualification)** (April 1, 2024): a seven-criterion scoring sheet that ranks LP leads, so you know whom to approach first.
4. **[LP Engagement Activities](/vc/fundraising/lp-engagement-activities)** (April 11, 2024): six types of activity, from private calls to SEO, and how to track which ones turn leads into LPs.
